Once the age verification has been carried out, the data transmitted to ARTE and its partner Yoti is automatically and immediately destroyed. ARTE does not create copies and no other use is made of this data.
Yoti was chosen by ARTE after a lengthy technical and legal analysis of the company and how the solution worked.
Yoti has been assessed by third-party bodies, including the German Association for the Voluntary Self-Regulation of Digital Media Service Providers (link in German) for the provision of age verification services and the Age Check Certification Scheme in the UK. France does not yet have a formal examination or accreditation process. However, Yoti is in close discussion with key bodies and is also an invited member of the recently established Laboratory for Online Child Protection.
